       TUNE-UPS & BRAKES

TUNE-UPS

Yes, TUNE UP is still a relevant service, whether it includes SPARK PLUGS or not. When your car is properly tuned, the ignition system, fuel system, emission system and computer system are all working together. This results in peak combustion chamber efficiency, saving you money at the gas pump and making sure your car is emitting a minimum amount of pollutants.

How do I tell if my vehicle needs a Tune Up?

Check your owner's manual. Tune up intervals vary by vehicle. Many people assume a tune up will solve a drivability problem. That's not always the case. Our experts perform a tune up verification to confirm that your car will benefit from a tune up. Your problem may be unrelated to a tune up and may need an engine diagnosis.

What does a Mazmark Tune Up include?

  • Tune-up verification

  • Replacement of spark plugs

  • Analysis of emission levels

  • Timing/idle speed adjustment (if adjustable)

  • Complete maintenance inspection

All of the parts we install are guaranteed to meet or exceed manufacturer standards, and if you wish, we'll return all of your old parts to you.

BRAKE SERVICE

When it comes to safety, no part of your vehicle is more important than the brakes. They should be inspected at least once a year to determine the condition of the hydraulic system and operating hardware. While the entire braking system requires attention, the friction materials - the pads, shoes, rotors and drums - require constant attention because they wear down each time you apply your brakes.

How can I tell when my brakes need servicing?

  • The brake pedal can be depressed nearly to the floor.

  • You hear a squealing or other unusual noise when you apply the brakes.

  • Some brands of brake pads have a built-in device that produces a high-pitched squeal when the brake pads are wearing thin.

  • The car pulls to one side when you apply the brakes. You feel a grinding or bumpy sensation as you come to a stop.

  • In general, if there is something about your brakes that is making you uncomfortable, you should have them inspected

        SERVICING

True: Advances in automotive technology have resulted in vehicles that are better built and longer lasting; but no matter what the dealer's commercial may promise, they are not maintenance-free and parts do wear down. To ensure peak performance and that you get years of trouble-free driving, your manufacturer has developed a recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle, which is outlined in your owner's manual.

When should my car have Scheduled Maintenance?

There are two types of maintenance services - minor and major. Minor services are generally performed at 7,500, 15,000, 45,000 and 75,000 miles while major services are performed at 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000, 120,000 mile intervals.

What are "minor services"?

While it varies by make and model, minor services generally include: changing the oil and oil filter. Lubricating the chassis if it has not been factory sealed. An inspection of all fluids, filters, belts, hoses, brakes and emissions.tire rotation (some manufacturers recommend as a part of a minor service).

What are "major services"?

While it varies by make and model, major services generally include: all minor services.the replacement of various filters, fluids and spark plugs.timing belt replacement at the manufacturer’s recommended replacement interval.other specified major services related to the fuel delivery, emissions and ignition systems.

Will your service validate my warranty?

Scheduled maintenance service must be completed in order to keep your warranty valid, and Mazmark Auto is authorized to perform most of the services recommended by each manufacturer.

This service, like all services performed at Mazmark Auto, is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.

Mazmark Auto strongly advises that you have maintenance services performed based on the manufacturer’s suggested schedule. Additional services may also be recommended based on our inspection of the vehicle and industry standards.

 Warning Lights /           Diagnostic Services

So there's something not quite right about the way your vehicle is driving, or you've got a warning light on your dashboard that was blinking at you yesterday and now it is on steady. What do you do? Hint: the answer is not to put a piece of electrical tape over the warning light and ignore it.

What makes a warning light come on?

Today's vehicles are manufactured with complex inter-related systems. On-board computers continuously monitor and store information concerning the performance of these systems. A warning light comes on because the computer has sensed a signal from one of the systems or components that has gone outside of its normal operating range. The computer then sends a signal to turn on the light to let you know something is wrong!

Some of the potential causes for a check warning light are not properly tightening your gas cap to engine, transmission or braking system performance issues. While warning lights can go on and the car still appears to be driving "fine", ignoring some lights can lead to serious issues, such as engine damage or other component failure. In some instances, this can be a safety hazard. That's why it is recommended to be safe (give yourself peace of mind) and have your car looked at by a certified professional as soon as possible.

Why does my parts store offer to "do my check engine light" for free?

Parts stores capabilities are limited to only reading the stored trouble codes, but they do not then perform the diagnostic procedures to determine what is exactly required to fix your vehicle. Mazmark Auto has certified technicians, whose job it is to fix cars!

What are examples of driveability issues that require diagnostics?

Typical driveability issues that require a diagnosis on your vehicle are:

  • Any warning lights on the dash that are illuminated (Check Engine Light, ABS, etc.)

  • Emissions failures

  • Engine or transmission performance

  • Steering and ride control
